Tamanu oil, also known as Foraha or Kamani (in Hawai'i) is cold pressed from the nut of the Calophyllum Inophyllum tree. The oil extracted has a rich, deep scent with a bold and dark color. Tamanu is well known for its healing and nourishing activity that it is considered one of the most active of all plant oils. Tamanu oil works wonders on the skin, as the oil contains a unique fatty acid composition, which speeds new cell growth and increases micro circulation. Tamanu is most beneficial for scarred and damaged skin, as well as skin prone to ingrown hairs and spotting. Most Tamanu oil on the market is filtered and/or refined. Ours is virgin, cold pressed and unfiltered. The resulting oil retains more healing, nourishing and soothing properties. Although it looks a little sandy, those granules are actually naturally occurring fat globules that immediately melt upon contact with the skin.

Specific Benefits of Tamanu Oil as follows:

Skincare... Tamanu oil may be used to help with scrapes, cuts, burns, insect bites, acne and acne scars. The oil is also used in aromatherapy for sunburn, eczema, blisters, herpes sores, psoriasis, and dry skin. It has shown both anti-inflammatory and pain relieving benefits. The oil may also be used to moisturize dry and cracked feet, as well as preventing foot odor.
Treating fungal infections... Tamanu oil a great choice for moisturizing and treating toenails affected by fungus. It’s also good for any kind of fungus that grows on the skin and creates rashes.
Repairing and strengthening hair... Tamanu is strengthening and nourishing to the hair, and the oil is commonly used in straightening hair care products because of its ability to help heal chemical burns.
