Tagetes essential oil is extracted from the southern marigold (Tagetes Minuta), a tall flowering plant that was originally native to South America. The southern marigold is now naturalized all over the world, and our tagetes essential oil is derived from plants grown in South Africa. Southern marigold is used as an herb and a flavoring in cuisines in Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and Bolivia. Both the plant and the essential oil derived from it are used as a long-standing remedy for small wounds, colds, respiratory problems, inflammation, or upset stomachs.

Specific Benefits of Tagetes Essential Oil as follows:

Helping heal small wounds... Tagetes essential oil has antimicrobial properties that help eliminate bacterial and fungal infections that can make small open wounds slow to heal. As a result, wounds treated with tagetes essential oil are likely to heal more quickly and painlessly.
Treating respiratory problems... Tagetes essential oil helps reduce respiratory problems in two ways: through relaxing airways and allowing for the clearing of pulmonary obstructions; and by reducing bacterial infections that might be adding to the respiratory problems. There is even evidence that it can help eradicate the potent Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, a common cause of respiratory infections.
Insecticide Tagetes oil is lethal to parasitic insects such as mosquitoes and fleas. It makes for a great all-around insect repellant, and it also helps to neutralize the stings and bites of these insects.

NOTE: Tagetes essential oil is phototoxic, which means it should not be used topically on skin that will be exposed to sunlight in the next 12 hours.
